The AEVA has a Youtube channel : https://www.youtube.com/@AEVANational
All branches are encouraged to upload videos, and if we follow a few common rules then the channel will stay neat and easy to navigate.

To gain access to the channel, ask one of the channel administrators for permission.  You'll need an existing Youtube account or Gmail address.  If you don't have one already, create a new Gmail address.  Send a request (with your Gmail address) to the administrators:  aeva-admins@aeva.asn.au
Once you're given permission you can then upload videos whenever you like using that account.

Uploading a Video:

First, make sure you have a video on your computer or device.  Make sure the video is complete, it can't be edited once uploaded to Youtube.

  • Log into Youtube and go to the AEVA channel.
  • Click on the Create icon, top right.  Choose "Upload Video".
  • Select the file for the video that you wish to upload.
  • Type in a Title and Description.  It might be a good idea to look at other videos, to help stay consistent.  These can both be changed later.
  • Check the section on Playlists - does your video fit into any of them?  If so, add it to a Playlist, but you don't have to.
  • Click Next a few times until you get to "Visibility".
    • For a national video, which everyone might like to see (e.g. webinars), click "Public".  This makes the video appear on the channel home page.
    • For a branch video, click "Unlisted".  Make sure it is in a Playlist, then everyone can see it when they go to the Playlist, but it won't be shown on the channel home page.
    • If your video isn't for general consumption, use "Unlisted", but don't put it in a Playlist.  This means that nobody will come across it on Youtube.  For instance you might have a video showing how you set up a marquee - something that is useful for your branch members, but nobody else needs to see it.  Anyone with the link can see it, so you might send members the link, or link it from your branch page.
    • If you really want nobody to see your video, click "Private".  These videos can only be viewed by invitation.
  • Click Save.

Once your video is uploaded, it's a good idea to link to it from the AEVA website.  If it is a branch meeting, you might like to add a link from the meeting's Event page.  To get the link, go to the video in Youtube and click the 'share' button.  One of the options is to copy a link.
