Strong sales of battery EVs continue

Earlier this month the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) released its VFACTS data for the third quarter of 2023.

During the first nine months of 2023 there were a total of 65,895 commercial sales of new battery EVs.  The best selling month was June, with 11,089 sales.

There were 6742 commercial sales of new Plug-in Hybrid EVs during those nine months.

According to the VFACTS data, the six biggest-selling battery EV models were:

• Tesla Model Y (23,457 national sales)
• Tesla Model 3 (14,540)
• BYD Atto 3 (8,706)
• MG ZS EV (2,357)
• Volvo XC40 (2,275)
• Polestar 2 (1,789)

Sales of the MG4 started to appear in August.  In September, 645 sales of the MG4 were registered.
