EV Friendly road trip map

This is great news, not only for EV owners wanting to explore the state, but for regional communities which benefit from the support that tourism brings. The addition of these EV-friendly itineraries and others planned, it really does take the worry out of regional travel.

EV Destination Charger

Destination Charger

With a share of the $12M NSW Government's 3rd round of Electric Vehicle Destination Charging Grants currently open and available to businesses and councils in regional NSW for the installation of destination charging infrastructure, it will go a long way to try and fill gaps along another 23 road trip routes, with the goal of converting as many regional areas to being "EV Friendly" as possible. It's great to see this support for EV drivers.

The key points of the Electric Vehicle Destination Charging Grants are:

  • Round 3 has been extended. Applications now close Friday 28 March 2025.
  • Up to $12 million in funding available across 71 eligible zones.
  • Round 3 has significant changes to eligibility criteria, and will now fund up to 80% of costs associated with EV charger installations of DC charging infrastructure up to 100 kW to a maximum of $200,000.
  • If you are not eligible as an applicant, you can register your interest to be a site host.
