AEVA (Australian Electric Vehicle Association) was proud to be a part of Mobility Live Melbourne 2024, one of the most influential gatherings dedicated to the future of transport and mobility in the Asia-Pacific region. This year’s event brought together industry leaders, innovators, policymakers, and EV enthusiasts to discuss sustainable transport solutions, innovative technologies, and pathways to achieving zero emissions in Australia’s transport sector.
AEVA's primary aims for attending Mobility Live were to:
Increase awareness of electric vehicles (EVs) and their role in achieving sustainable mobility.
Connect with industry leaders, potential partners, and members of the public interested in EV adoption.
Highlight the latest developments in EV technology and infrastructure.
· AEVA hosted an exhibition booth that became a hub for EV enthusiasts and curious attendees alike. The booth featured Michael Wilkinson’s 1963 Sunbeam Alpine EV conversion – a real eye catcher! AEVA members engaged with hundreds of visitors, sharing insights on the EV industry and discussing membership opportunities.
· Kathleen Davies, Chair AEVA Vic, presented ‘A Better Future – Driven by Users.’ The successful and well attended session answered questions about the who, when, where, why, what, and how of AEVA operations. The presentation explored the challenging interfaces between AEVA, community, commerce, and government. Attendee, and life member of AEVA, Daryl Budgeon said “Kathy’s presentation was excellent, thoughtfully compiled, and well executed. On the display, the Sunbeam Alpine conversion was a great drawcard and even got the attention of Chris Bowen. AEVA could look to incorporating some visual display technology at future events of this kind to entice people over to the stand.”
· AEVA engaged in productive networking with industry stakeholders, including representatives from EV manufacturing, charging infrastructure, and renewable energy sectors. The event provided AEVA with opportunities to set up partnerships that could accelerate EV adoption in Australia.
· Mobility Live attracted a diverse audience, including members of the public who were new to EVs. AEVA volunteers engaged visitors in discussions about the benefits of EVs, debunked common myths, and provided insights into the practicalities of owning and keeping an electric vehicle in Australia.
The event spurred interest in AEVA memberships, particularly from individuals and companies keen on supporting EV adoption and policy advocacy in Australia.
Participation in Mobility Live significantly raised AEVA’s visibility within the EV industry and the broader public, positioning AEVA as a thought leader in the Australian EV landscape.
AEVA’s attendance at Mobility Live Melbourne 2024 proved to be a successful venture, reinforcing its role in the national movement towards sustainable transport. The event allowed AEVA to connect with industry leaders, engage with the public, and advocate for a cleaner, greener future for Australia’s transportation. We look forward to building on these achievements and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles nationwide.
