Event Overview:

The Manningham Electric Vehicle (EV) Expo, held on Sunday 27 October 2024 at Manningham Civic Centre, attracted a significant crowd of EV enthusiasts and curious newcomers. Organised to promote electric mobility and showcase the latest advancements in electric vehicle technology, the event featured numerous exhibitors, including the Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) Vic branch, car manufacturers, charging infrastructure providers, and accessory companies.

Event Highlights:

  • Various electric vehicle models were on display, ranging from compact city cars to luxury EVs. Notable brands, including BMW, Mini, Porsche, Tesla, and XPENG, displayed their latest models. Each manufacturer highlighted unique features such as extended range, fast charging capabilities, and advanced driver-assistance systems, giving attendees a chance to see the latest in EV innovation.
  • AEVA played a crucial role in promoting knowledge and awareness around EVs, charging infrastructure, and government incentives. Their display attracted a steady stream of visitors interested in understanding EV benefits, environmental impacts, and practical considerations. AEVA volunteers presented five (5) vehicles, including a Tesla Model 3, Volvo EX30, Volvo XC40, Hyundai Ioniq 5N, and BMW i3. They presented real-world information about EV ownership, long-distance travel, and the future of battery technology.

AEVA’s Impact at the Event:

AEVA’s presence added tremendous value by providing expert insights and helping demystify electric vehicles for newcomers. AEVA representatives engaged with hundreds of attendees, answered technical questions, and guided visitors through the basics of EV ownership. AEVA’s mission of fostering an inclusive EV community was well-represented, and their focus on sustainability and education resonated strongly with the audience.

Conclusion:

The Expo was a resounding success, with AEVA’s involvement significantly enhancing the event’s educational component. The event fostered enthusiasm for electric mobility, dispelled common myths, and provided clear, practical information about the EV transition.
