AEVA does EV Display at the 2024 Randwick Eco Living Festival
Having worked with the Randwick City Council sustainability team for a number of years presenting vehicles and talking to the public as part of the Eco Living Festival + Maroubra Beach Markets at the Broadarrow Reserve, Maroubra Beach.
Displaying a number of member vehicles, plus display vehicles supplied by Cupra Garage Sydney and McCarroll's of Artarmon, we were able to show off a wide range of vehicles, including:
- Polestar 2
- Volvo EX30
- Tesla Model X
- Tesla Model 3
- Cupra Born
- Abarth 500e
- Fiat 500e
- Fonz Arthur 6 scooter
- A member converted 1971 VW Beetle with a Hyper 9 Motor and around 33 kWh of batteries which is driven daily by its owner.
The members had many great conversations with members of the public discussing topics such as charging, which vehicle may be right for them, EV conversions, and many other associated topics.
At previous events, we'd seen that the council had used generators to power parts of the event. After a suggestion from the AEVA team, the main stage was now powered by an large scale portable bank, which replaces the need for a generator. It's great to see the council updating their processes to further electrify the event.
We also had an overview from a the combined eastern suburbs councils team about the Eastern Suburbs EV Infrastructure Strategy 2023 to rollout EV chargers right across the eastern suburbs, involving Randwick City Council, Waverly City Council, and Woollahra City Council, aiming to add over 450 ports across the region by 2025.
Our NSW Branch Vice-Chair Steven Du did a walk-around of the event on the day, check out his video on YouTube.
Do you work in sustainability for your council? Contact your local AEVA branch if you're interested in doing an EV display or to provide education sessions for your team or constituents. We've worked together with many councils to help inform and educate about the transition to electric vehicles.
