Re: Superchargers planned/under construction

I'm not sure why you consider it odd that fast charging infrastructure isn't everywhere you believe it should be. There's less than 20,000 EVs in Australia, that's nowhere near enough to support statewide let alone nationwide fast charging. The roll out of Superchargers is driven by vehicle take up....

Re: Superchargers planned/under construction

No booking for destination charging unless specified in Plugshare (very rare).

Just give the location a call the day before arrival and let them know when you're expecting to charge there. They will tell you if there is any issue with you using it.

Re: Superchargers planned/under construction

Tesla are planning stations at Traralgon and Lakes Entrance as per earlier link but no physical progress yet.

For now, if you want to do the coastal road from Melbourne to Sydney your fastest option is the Chargefox fast chargers at Moe and an AC charge at the Marlo Hotel for ~3 hours.

Tesla Model 3 floor mats available from Fit My Car @ https://www.fitmycar.com/au/tesla-model ... iece/29067.

I have a set of the $99 variant. Good fit and good quality. No affiliation with them other than happy customer.

Re: Model 3 lowest cost in Aus?

I don't think ABRP is better than the Tesla navigation (if your route only uses Superchargers) but it allows you to play with more variables e.g. headwinds, tailwinds etc. And with the Tesla navigation it's always from your current location to the destination. Often you want to see a trip say from M...

Re: Model 3 lowest cost in Aus?

In my experience, your Model 3 will pre-condition the battery to heat it up ready for supercharging when ambient temperatures are lower e.g. 15C or below. You will receive a notification on the dash in that situation. Your Model 3 will control the battery temperature irrespective of how fast you are...

Fair enough re. social media. The Tesla model 3 Australia group is well moderated so no issue with negativity. The other option is to use the Tesla Motors Club forum for Australia at https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/forums/australia.129/ . No need for a facebook account and you can browse and search ...

Tesla Bjorn did a range test of an SR+ at 90kph at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpvg2f7HyQs . Average Wh/km was 122. You can use https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ and set speed limits and your preferred routes to see what it believes the efficiency and range will be. I've found it to be pretty acc...

Re: AEVA Sydney EV Expo and AGM

Thanks Chris for your support and to that of the other states whose members helped make the EV Expo what it was.

We tried a new format with the addition of the Ride Drive event and learnt a lot so hopefully we can share that and make the 2020 EV Expo in Victoria even better.

Cheers,
David

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

You can trim the type 2 end and still use non-Tesla Type 2 charging stations. The only practical issue is that by trimming the end of the Type 2 adaptor is that it will no longer lock into the charging station (as the lock indent is effectively removed by trimming). That means there is no security o...

Good pickup! Don't understand all the secrecy about locations both before and after the sites are built. Surely you'd want to raise the profile of your sites among EV and non-EV drivers alike if you want to build momentum for your services. Let's hope that Evie promote their fast charger network bet...

Whilst the cost is above $10K after labour, it is a 24Kw battery and when you consider the costs of a home battery storage system of that capacity – it actually compares quite favourably. LOL. What an odd comment as if Leaf owners are weighing up whether to upgrade their battery pack or install a h...

Re: NSW Zoes please note

My Leaf in NSW has $282 of Motor Vehicle Tax (1493kg). So that's a $23 discount off the standard $305 and as suggested it looks like it's included in every renewal. I'll take it but it's so small it would have cost them more to get the code changed in their system than they will would have paid out ...

About 340km at 110kph in the SR+. Here's a trip of 327km (100% => 4% SOC) from Gundagai to Violet Town - 110kph the whole way - https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=08a08414-198e-40f8-a85e-3129680d8655 . Re: NSW Zoes please note

I think NSW is either $5, $20 or $30 discount for lower taxed vehicles based on the weight of the vehicle and the discount is only in the first year of registration. I can't find a formal reference for that just this page - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2612939.

Re: Members thoughts on the different EV brands

Tesla has set a high standard to follow but there is plenty of room for middle market brands like Hyundai and Kia to be leading the EV sales volumes. The upcoming Kia Soul EV is a very good vehicle with large space and the Hyundai Ioniq/Kona option compelling for their own reasons. The Kona and Soul...

Re: NRMA funding 40 DCFCs around NSW

Placing a fast charger at the top of a mountain range (i.e. Katoomba) isn't ideal. You need one either side of the range to make sure you can charge up enough to get to the top! Once on top, you don't need much battery to get back down the mountain range again. There are already a few AC chargers at...

Re: NRMA funding 40 DCFCs around NSW

NRMA is now moving along quickly, which is great to see. A few gaps to fill near Sydney like Lithgow and Wyong and the remaining chargers can be spread around Regional NSW. SHould really compliment the Tesla and Chargefox network. What a difference there will be in DC fast chargers across NSW by the...
