Re: AC Type 2 chargers - Understanding different combinations

Hi there-fact sheets are as correct as I can get them given the difficulty of getting some of the data 'officially'! All are currently right though. (I monitor for vehicle updates). BTW: As far as I understand it-all Type 1 and 2 plug cars can step up and down in a fairly granular manner. Cheers Bryce

9 Nissan Leafs for auction at Pickles: 8 NSW, 1 ACT

Hi all - was browsing the car auction sites and noticed 9 Leafs listed at Pickles. First couple I clicked on had 9 of the 12 capacity bars remaining (same as mine) - so would have 90 - 100km left as a summer range. (more perhaps if you're not a leadfoot :-) ) They do appear to be Aust delivered vers...

Welcome! Enjoy the EV Grin as it develops. πŸ˜† (Due to no more tailpipe pollution, the ability to wean off fossil fuels, and the stunning ride that all EVs give you. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜† )

Hi Patrick - I have offered them to the dealers, but they appear uninterested. :-(

FYI: VicRoads have NEVER had them.

Contact me for a pair. $10 a set posted. Profits to AEVA.

Re: Template letter for a business or commune to install a charging station. Anyone?

Hi everyone, is there any material you can share on this as I'm in the same boat trying to find a solution to charging near home as I only have street parking. Trying to get something installed at work as well. I started approaching local businesses to see if they'd be interested in installing char...

Re: Template letter for a business or commune to install a charging station. Anyone?

Excellent! I will contact the various places and plant the seed. What is the best method for me to contact the sub-committee? As for joining, I am currently working 12 hour days, but when/if it slows down in the future I am happy to become a revolutionary. Cheers, Patrick Hi Patrick - just contact ...

Next Vic meeting: Wed 9th October

Hi all - this is the usual reminder for our monthly AEVA Vic branch meeting. Happens again this Wednesday, October 9th. Main talk tonight will be on Bryce's EV Long Weekend Tour of Victoria: 7 days and 2500km later, Hear how both Kona electric and person performed over the trip. (Spoiler alert: one ...

Re: Making home EV ready

Hi there - the EVSE will work fine for 12 years and beyond. It's just an automatic power point really. I installed my 7kW one 5 years ago, and it is no different to the same model offered for sale now by that company. How the 'dumb' ones work will never change. It's the 'smart' ones that might chang...

Re: Kona AC charging question

Any EVSE set to a lower limit will be fine. I built my 3.6kW portable EVSE specifically for caravan park 15A outlets. Worked perfectly on the EV Long Weekend tour with my Kona. 😊 BTW, from memory the Kona itself can be set for lower charge rates if you want it to.

Day 7. And enough via the granny charger to go direct to ECOSS, but not enough as I was going by Geelong. Lucky the first stop is at the Geelong Mode 3 charger. 😊 A short walk into town to do some shopping and a coffee until the organised leaving time. Hung on a bit longer to make sure of enough cha...

Re: PlugShare app question

Hi Patrick: alternative thought-you could use a 15A portable EVSE in a 15A socket, (eg caravan park) it will give you a 0-100% full charge in about 17-18 hrs. I did that via caravan park outlets all around Victoria this last week. Arrive 5pm, charge to 10am: thats your full charge (or close enough t...

Day 6: almost there! Hotel charge went well, and ready to go with full battery before 8am. Since I planned to leave by 10, safely done and dusted. 😊 Today was two talks: the last fleet EV familiarisation session, plus an evening presentation to the AEVA Ballarat sub-branch. Was nice to start putting...

Re: Vic EV Long-Weekend Tour begins

Yes, the data from the trip show a lot of the effects of altered driving conditions. Day 1 was flat 100km/h driving. Day 2 was up hill and lots of heater. Day 5 was with a very strong tailwind, etc. Will analyse in detail for the final articles.

Re: Public Education, misinformation corrected about EV basics

I do a lot of correcting of EV misinformation - sadly a lot of it is politically driven rather than genuine. More commonly I answer 'EV 101' type beginners questions through doing public talks through AEVA and writing for various publications (see FAQs and Reader Questions sections of TheDriven.io i...

Day 5: Mildura to Horsham to run another fleet EV familiarisation session. As a challenge, am staying at a motel tonight. Re: Vic EV Long-Weekend Tour begins

Day 4: Mildura. And it's beginning to dawn on me this not a 'typical' long weekend drive. A tour of over 2300km in 6.5 days (with stops for EV talks) is definitely not your normal restful holiday drive. Yes, was a bit tired last night: hence filing me report the next morning! Now on the return run a...

Re: Vic EV Long-Weekend Tour begins

Day 3 saw me out of Myrtleford at 9.30, with 'nan' the GPS taking a nice but unexpected detour along a windy hilly road to Echuca on the way to Kerang. (My stop tonight). I named the GPS 'nan' as it has a habit of detouring the route through country towns and byways instead of keeping to the highway...

Day 2: stopped at Myrtleford instead of Albury. Longer EV info session than planned in Bairnsdale, and heavy cloud over Hotham-so was tired and needed a beer/feed by 5. Vic EV Long-Weekend Tour begins

Hi all- just finished the first leg today of one of our Vic branch's EV Week events-this one the 'EV Long Weekend tour'. Over 360km travelled to Bairnsdale in Victoria's east (via the SHD events at the Cape Paterson sustainable housing estate). Kona arrived with 95km of range left too - it is so eco...
